Army aviator name tags
We found no Army-wide standard for a leather flight name tag. Here is the layout we saw most and how to fill it in.

What goes on each line
| Where | What | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Top line | Full name | JAMES R. OKAFOR |
| Bottom left | Rank | CW2, CPT, SGT |
| Bottom right | Service (Reserve, Guard) or unit | U.S. ARMY, USAR, ARNG |
Everything is engraved in capitals. Use your branch's rank abbreviations, with or without periods; we engrave exactly what you type.
What the uniform manuals say, and what people wear
The Army uniform pamphlet (DA PAM 670-1, 26 January 2021) has no leather flight name tag: para 6-5j puts the cloth nametape and U.S. Army tape on the aircrew combat uniform, and we found no leather tag rule anywhere in it. Among the leather tags we reviewed, most were silver on black with the full name on top and rank left, U.S. ARMY right underneath. Check with your unit for anything worn on duty.
Layouts
Name on top is the usual Army layout. Four boxes and two centered lines are there too.

Colors
Silver on black matches silver Army wings and is what most units wear. The other three color options are available.
Wings
Army Aviator, Senior Army Aviator and Master Army Aviator wings, plus the Aviation Badge for crew and Flight Surgeon. The wing art is drawn from the official insignia and engraved at the same size on every tag, about two-thirds of the tag width, like the tags we measured.
Questions
Is there an official Army leather name tag?
No. DA PAM 670-1 puts a cloth nametape on the aircrew uniform (para 6-5j) and has no leather tag rule. Units set their own; the common style is silver on black, full name on top, rank and U.S. ARMY below.
Which Army wings should I choose?
Army Aviator, Senior Army Aviator (star above the shield) or Master Army Aviator (star in a wreath), matching your rating.
